Investigating Employee Mental Health with an Emphasis on Demographic Variables (Case Study: Islamic Azad University of Savadkooh Branch)

Mental well-being is considered as the ability to adapt to the environment and workplace, which entails a wide range of different factors. In its general sense, mental well-being denotes mental health and balance, positive mental characteristics and the approaches to attaining mental and psychological health, which are necessary for personal and social development. The present study set to investigate the relationship between mental health and demographic variables in the employees with Islamic Azad University of Savadkooh branch using SCL90-R and GHQ scales. The study adopted a descriptive-correlational method. The population of the study consisted of 86 employees with Islamic Azad University of Savadkooh branch including 33 females and 53 males (N=86). Since the population size was small and all members were accessible, all employees were considered as the research sample. Descriptive statistics was used to describe the data. Inferential statistics including correlation test was used based on the measurement level of the variables to analyze the data. The results showed a significant correlation of employees’ age, working position, education and income with their mental health. The results also demonstrated a significant difference between gender and mental health in the employees. However, there was no significant difference between marital status and mental health in the university employees.
