Abstract
This paper deals with time-dependent behavior of a simply-supported laminated functionally graded (FG) beam with viscoelastic interlayer. The viscoelastic interlayer is modeled as an arbitrary linear viscoelastic material and the elastic modulus of each graded layer varies with the thickness as an arbitrary function, respectively. Closed-form solutions of interface shear stress, axial displacement, transverse displacement and axial stress of the beam under an arbitrary time-dependent load are obtained in Laplace transformed shape. For a simple model, the viscoelastic interface is modeled as a viscoelastic material using Standard Linear Solid model and the elastic modulus of each graded layer exhibits linear variation through the thickness under a constant distributed uniform load. Analytical solutions are derived by inversing Laplace transform which are verified by finite element analysis using software MSC.Marc.
