Abstract :
The transport of divalent cadmium ions from high salinity chloride medium through SLM containing TBP in cyclohexane supported on cellulose acetate membrane into a strip solution with EDTA has been studied. Permeability coefficients of metal ions increased with increasing the pH of feed from 1–4. It also increases with increasing membrane and strip concentrations. At higher concentrations of TBP in the membrane, metal transport was faster, further increase in TBP concentrations up to 80–100% (v/v), the metal transport slowed down. The effect of temperature has been studied and the activation energy of the reactions has been evaluated to be 48 kcal/mol, which suggested that this process is chemical reaction controlled under the hydrodynamic conditions.
