Abstract
The present work is focused on the process of propane dehydrogenation using gas separation inorganic membranes with molybdenum (Mo) selective layer obtained by chemical vapor deposition (CVD) method. Such membranes could be a valuable substitution for the present noble metal-coated membranes for dehydrogenation process. Being catalytically active and possessing gas separation properties at the same time. Mo-coated membranes could prevent from using granulated catalyst bed in membrane reactor. The maximum selectivity to propylene for Mo-ceramic membranes (Mo coated on ceramic support) was 63% (T = 853 K, conversion to propane 17%). The maximum selectivity to propylene for Mo–carbon membranes (Mo coated on carbon support) was 84% (T = 853 K, conversion to propane 28%).
