Abstract :
The aim of this research was to study the Students’ Psychological, Social and Educational Problemsin Vocational-professional schools of Iran. For this reason, not only the role of personality characteristics, locus of control and emotional intelligence in predicting Academic performancebut also the process of shaping vocational and technical schools in Iranwere studied. The statistical population included all the students in vocational and technical schools in Kermanshah city. Using Cochran formula, 211 patients were selected by sampling. The scales used consisted of questionnaires of personality characteristics (five-factor), locus of control (Rutter), emotional intelligence (Barberry and Graves),Academic performance and the correlational design in this research. After gathering, the data was analyzed by correlation and regression. The results showed that there are significant correlations between some of the personality characteristics and emotional intelligence on one side whitlocus of control with academic performance on the other side. The results also showed that subcomponents ofdeontology, social awareness, self-management and flexibility can predict academic performance. According to the research findings, we concluded that personality characteristics, locus of control and emotional intelligence are the factors predicatingacademic performance. Therefore, it is desirable to considercomponents of personality characteristics and emotional intelligence informal training programs at Vocational-professional Schools.
