Abstract :
The addition of glutardialdehyde, 3,4-dimethoxybenzaldehyde or aminocaproic acid enables a modification of the properties of the layers resulting from the sol–gel process of tetraethoxysilane (TEOS). Kinetics of various hydrolysis and condensation reaction steps were analyzed by 29Si and13C Nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy. X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy studies give evidence that the additive molecules are also located on the surface. The layer morphology was characterized by atomic force microscopy.
