Indentation of glass as a function of temperature

We have investigated the mechanical response of soda–lime–silica glass to a Vickers indentor applied at temperatures between room temperature and 600°C. The permanent deformation as well as the brittle deformation were analysed. We could determine the hardness as well as the fracture toughness of the glass as a function of temperature.
