Antioxidant and Antiprolifereative Capacity of Dichloromethane Extract of Holoturia leucospilota sea cucumber

The antioxidant and anti-proliferative effects of dichloromethane extract from methanol extract of H.leucospilota were investigated in this study. Scavenging effects on the DPPH and power reducing were evaluated. The dichloromethane fraction of H.leucospilota exhibited antioxidant activities to scavenge DPPH, The reducing capacity enhanced with increasing concentration of the extract and the activity was comparable with the Butylated hydroxyanisole (BHA) as a standard. Furthermore, the dichloromethane fraction of H.leucospilota exhibits activity against MCF-7 and A549 cancer cell lines. These results demonstrate potential antioxidant activities and anti-proliferative effect of H.leucospilota, as a natural antioxidant and antitumor agent.
