Abstract
Homogeneous, pure and praseodymium-doped (Ge30Ga5Se65)100−x(Pr2Se3)x glasses, x=0–0.7, were prepared. Thermal properties of prepared glasses were determined. From the room temperature transmission spectra, the experimental oscillator strengths of six f–f electron transitions of Pr3+ ions were obtained. Judd–Ofelt intensity parameters (Ω2=6.0×10−20 cm2,Ω4=16.8×10−20 cm2,Ω6=5.0×10−20 cm2) were evaluated by least-square fitting method using the six experimental oscillator strengths of the Pr3+ electric dipole transitions. Using the Judd–Ofelt theory, the spontaneous emission probabilities and the branching ratios were calculated.
