Aer( )sculpture: the enigmatic beauty of aerogel’s non-entity in a pilot art & science project

Aer( )sculpture is an innovative – worldwide pioneering – Art & Science project and its aim is the creation of weightless, ethereal works of art using silica aerogel as the sculptural medium. The pieces discussed in this paper demonstrate the way this exotic material becomes immediately interesting for the visual arts.I. a blue and orange natural color for the same reasons that sky has those colors. xically lightweight but strong, this matter matches with our immaterial communication era. oam of glass has no definite geometrical form – it is like a 3-D X-ray. three properties of silica aerogels will be discussed in this paper.
