Reactions of [{μ-η2-C(R1)CHR2}(μ-CO)Fe2(CO)6]− with (μ-S2)Fe2(CO)6: synthesis and structures of [μ-η2-C(R1)CHR2](μ-RS)[Fe2(CO)6]2(μ4-S) (R=alkyl, phenyl or acyl)

The reaction of [{μ-η2-C(R1)CHR2}(μ-CO)Fe2(CO)6]− with (μ-S2)Fe2(CO)6 forms (μ3-S)2Fe3(CO)9 (1) and/or anionic intermediates [{μ-η2-C(R1)CHR2}(μ-S){Fe2(CO)6}2(μ4-S)]− (2) depending on the substituents R1 and R2. The actions of the anionic complexes 2 with alkyl halides, PhN2BF4 and acid chlorides give [μ-η2-C(R1)CHR2](μ-RS)[Fe2(CO)6]2(μ4-S) (R=alkyl, Ph or acyl). The structures of (μ-η2-CHCHPh](μ-CH2CHCH2S)[Fe2(CO)6]2(μ4-S)·0.5C6H12 and (μ-η2-CHCH-furyl-2][μ-PhCHCHC(O)S][Fe2(CO)6]2(μ4-S) were determined by single-crystal X-ray diffraction.
