Synthesis, characterization, and X-ray crystallography of a series of ditungsten complexes with bis(diphenylphosphino)amine

The W2(II, II) and W2(III, III) compounds, W2(μ-O2CC6H5)2Cl2(μ-dppa)2 (1), W2(μ-O2CC6H5)2Br2(μ-dppa)2 (2), W2(μ-O2CC6H5)2I2(μ-dppa)2 (3), W2Cl4(μ-dppa)2 (4), W2(μ-Cl)2Cl4(μ-dppa)2 (5), and W2(μ-H)2Cl4(μ-dppa)2 (6), have been synthesized using the chelating phosphine ligand dppa (bis(diphenylphosphino)amine). The series of metal–metal multiply bonded complexes has been characterized by NMR and UV–vis spectroscopy, and the structures of 2·(THF)2, 5·(THF)4, and 6·(THF)2 determined by X-ray crystallography.
