Abstract :
The diphosphastibolyl-potassium complex, [{[K(DME)][1,4,2-P2SbC2But2]}∞], has been prepared from the reaction of K[Sb(SiMe3)2] with (Me3Si)PC(But)(OSiMe3). In the solid state it has been shown to exist as an infinite polymer of alternating [K(DME)] and [μ-η5:η5-P2SbC2But2] units. The reaction of two equivalents of this complex with SiMe2Cl2 has afforded a novel hexahetero-cage compound, Me2SiP4SbC4But4H, which has been crystallographically characterised.
