Abstract :
The complex (η4-ortho-quinone methide)Ru(η6-benzene) has been successfully synthesized by deprotonation of the respective [(η5-ortho-cresolate)Ru(η6-benzene)](CF3COO) complex and analyzed by IR, NMR, and X-ray crystallography. This is the first ruthenium-stabilized quinone methide reported and the first unsubstituted, simple quinone methide complex of any metal to be crystallographically characterized.
