Synthesis, NMR spectroscopy, and conformational analysis of α-dimethylsilyl esters

The conformational properties of α-dimethylsilyl esters, synthesized in excellent yields by reaction of ester enolates with chlorodimethylsilane (DMSCl), have been explored by both molecular mechanics calculations and a variety of 1H- and 29Si-NMR spectroscopic experiments.
