Abstract :
In this paper, thermal lens spectrometry was used to determine the thermal properties of barium titanium borate glasses as a function of the amount of TiO2 in the ratios 8/9 and 1/1 of BaO–B2O3. The thermal lens technique was shown to be sensitive to the variation of TiO2 and the ratio of BaO/B2O3, through thermal diffusivity and conductivity, with different behavior for the ratios 1/1 and 8/9. An increase in thermal diffusivity and conductivity as a function of TiO2 was observed, and this behavior was ascribed to the fact that titanium acts as a glassy-former, being more active in the ratio 8/9.
