Abstract :
Cd(II)-ion-selective electrodes (Cd(II)-ISEs) were developed on the base of chalcogenide glasses (ChGs) from the GeSe2–Sb2Te3–CdSe system. Novel constructional designs of the “coated wire” type were created consisting of an inner Ag/AgCl reference electrode uniformly coated with a composite mixture of a binding polymer and Cd-containing ChG powder. Cd(II)-ISEs were tested with respect to their basic analytical characteristics: stability, linearity (L, mol l−1) and slope (S, mV dec−1) of the electrode function, working pH-range, limits of detection (LD, mol l−1), response time (τ95, s) and selectivity coefficients ( K i , j pot ) in the presence of ions, which commonly accompany Cd2+-ions in the analytical media.
