Abstract
The paper describes experiments and theory of acoustically enhanced granular bed filtration of solid particles from gas streams. The experiments have been carried out with acoustic waves of frequencies of 100 Hz and 95–110 dB sound levels, showing that application of acoustics reduces particle penetration up to 35% relative to filtration without acoustics. Theoretical analysis shows that by increasing the acoustic intensity and decreasing the frequency, the effect of acoustics on filtration efficiency is amplified.
