Frequency dependent operations for 2nd order systems—Modal expansion and modal correlation

In this paper, two frequency dependent operations for viscously-damped systems are presented. The first operation comprises a new frequency dependent modal expansion while the second operation generalises a recently-proposed modal correlation approach for these systems such that particular frequencies are targeted. The two suggested methods are connected by a common method for specifying frequency in a generalised sense and they are each illustrated using numerical examples.
