1,1′-Binaphthyl subunits as recognition groups of novel macrocyclic ligands: Application for saccharide sensing

Novel macrocyclic binaphthylic receptors 1–6 are described as suitable compounds for saccharide recognition. Receptors belong to porphyrin- and calixresorcinol-based macrocycles. Receptors showed strong interaction to saccharide species in aqueous media. The specificity to oligosaccharides for majority of receptors has been showed. Apparent Ka values in DMSO and 5% methanol/water mixture are in the range of 1–103 M−1.
