Abstract :
The work describes the development of a convenient biochip system that uses a light emitting diode (LED) as a light source, for use in imaging protein arrays. Protein was successfully arrayed on to a membrane using new method that combines the use of SU-8 photoresist and softlithography technology. Fluorescence measurements showed that the protein deposition technique is capable of producing reproducible microspots (of at least 750 μm in diameter) and revealed the feasibility of the system. This technology has the potential to be an extremely low cost diagnostic tool, which can be taken from the research bench into industrial, clinical and other routine applications.
