Abstract
LaOCl nanopowders have been synthesized using two different synthesis processes: a sol–gel derived technique and a direct oxidation, both using LaCl3 as precursor. A complete morphological and structural characterisation (XRD, TEM, XPS) has been performed to know the most important differences between powders. According to these studies, the main distinction has been detected in the morphology of the samples, which is composed by stick-like particles on one hand and quasi-spherical grains on the other. TPD experiments were also carried out to study the interaction of CO2 molecules with samples surface. The differences of desorption peaks will be related with the gas sensing characteristics.
