Abstract :
In design of hydrostatic journal bearing or sliding pad whose hydrostatic pressures are regulated by membrane-type restrictors, traditional methods according to membrane elasticity is used to determine membrane deflection and flow rate through space between membrane and restrictor sill. However, for the single-action type the actual flow rates will be obtained by experimental measurements to show that a large discrepancy exists between results compared because of unsymmetric design in this type of restrictors.
fied determination of flow rate and fluid resistance for the single action membrane-type restrictors are presented in this study according to restriction experiments. Several mathematical models are used to simulate the relationship between flow rate and supply pressures of lubricants, which are obtained by regression of experimental results. The comparisons among experimental results, traditional methods, and the modified method show that the modified restriction model can provide approximate description for actual cases.
