Abstract :
A novel colorimetric sensor for the detection of Fe3+ by “naked-eye” has been developed. The sensor shows excellent selectivity for Fe3+ over other metal ions in aqueous media, as well as a significant color change visible to the naked-eye at the concentration of 0.3 mg/L, the WHO recommended value in drinking water. The sensor can be directly applied to environmental Fe3+ detection in 100% water medium, and the results are comparable to those obtained from instrumental measurements.
