Abstract :
In this paper we report the most significant results of a wide project which aimed to build up a sensor for the CO-detection with improved selectivity through catalytic activation. We faced this problem by first looking for the best materials candidates to display a good and reliable CO-response; then we split our attention towards thin and thick films searching for an optimization of the sensing layer response as a function of film thickness; after that, final stage was the development of the most suited material to be employed as the selective layer, with particular emphasis on the carbon dioxide interference.
