Abstract :
The purpose of this study was to video analysis of soccer playersʹ injuries in the 2010 world cup games. Therefore, all matches were reviewed through video analysis and their information (the number of injuries, the mechanism of injuries, the time of incidence, the type of accident, leading to injure and the injuries occurrence area) achieved via record in the injuries repeat form. In the present study that is descriptive analysis type, chi square test (x2) used for statistical analysis. Results showed that 92% injuries occurred during 64 matches or 39.3 injuries per 1000 hours competition. Most incidence of injuries have occurred in the final 15 minutes of the second half (minute from 76 to 90) (p < 0.005). Air challenging (28.3%) and receiving tackle (21.7%) were most common mechanism causing injury. The middle of pitch with 20.7% and then areas front of goals with equal ratio 18.5% had most percentage of injuries (p < 0.05). The incidence of injury in these games was less than previous world cup; this can be due to the more vigor arbitration rules in line with maintain the health of players, difference in definition of injury, the different game system, differences in duration and type of preparation period, and method of collection data.
