Abstract
Photocatalytic detoxification has been an alternative method for the clean up of persistent organic pollutants in water and wastewater effluent. Immobilized TiO2 solves the problem of separation, recovery and repeated usage of suspension mode TiO2. Powdered TiO2 was directly immobilized onto Al plate by electrophoretic deposition technique. The deposition was enhanced by addition of epoxidized natural rubber (ENR). These immobilized TiO2 was tested for the degradation of phenol. The photocatalytic degradation of 0.10 mM phenol by Al/TiO2 and Al/ENRTiO2 was 12.74 and 18.38 min, respectively.
