Abstract
Chemometricians have been formally employed at Dow Chemical since 1988. In that time, chemometric methods have been applied in a number of analytical chemistry applications. These have resulted in making money for the company in a variety of ways, and several recent case studies are presented. These applications have been positive for the company in terms of (1) better process control, (2) faster verification of raw material identification and quality, and (3) faster analysis of wastewater. The analytical methods used are NIR and NMR spectroscopy. The chemometric methods include pattern recognition and multivariate calibration.
