Abstract :
Jojoba plant product (seeds) contains about 40–50% of seed dry weight oil, which is more than the amount produced by other oilseed crops such as soybeans and rapeseed. Unlike vegetable oils and animal fats, jojoba oil (JO) is not a triglyceride but a mixture of long straight chain monoesters esters. Therefore, JO appears to be a promising energy source that can be used separately or in mixtures with petroleum diesel (PD) and/or biodiesel (BD) fuels in many applications without being esterified.
s study, the dynamic viscosity, density, flash point and heating value of jojoba oil (JO) and its blends with PD and BD have been investigated. The effects of temperature and volume fraction on the density and viscosity of blends were examined. The results are described by means of specific mathematical correlations. The constants of these correlations differ depending on the type of fuel blend. Furthermore, some previously reported models that have been presented for the prediction of viscosity and density of PD–BD blends are examined with the experimental data obtained in this work.
