Large size multicrystalline silicon ingots

Directional solidification of multicrystalline-silicon ingots is one of the key technologies of commercial photovoltaics. We discuss here some issues posed by the rapid growth of the market and the need to maintain the positive feedback between research and industrial application we have experienced so far in PV.
