The X-residuals calculated by partial least squares are problematic for uncertainty estimation

Recently, there has been an intense debate about how to properly calculate residuals of the X-data in combination with partial least squares. Here, attention is drawn to the fact that neither calculation method will provide the right input for uncertainty estimation.
