Abstract
In the inelastic dynamic response of structures it is important to investigate the strain rate sensitivity of the material. As long as overstresses can develop depending on the deformation velocity, viscoplastic laws should be taken into account in the theoretical and numerical modeling. Hence, material parameters have to be identified for high strain rates. In this study the material parameter identification processes and their consequences on finite element simulations for two material models based on phenomenological and micromechanical approaches are compared with each other. The aim is to determine which model predicts high strain rate deformations of shock wave loaded plates most realistically.
