Abstract :
A computational model for Lagrangian simulation of particle transport, dispersion and deposition near a hut is developed. The thermodynamically consistent rate-dependent anisotropic turbulence model is used, and the air flow mean velocity, as well as root-mean-square fluctuation velocity fields in the vicinity of a small one-story building are evaluated. The instantaneous turbulence fluctuating velocity is simulated as a continuous Gaussian random vector field. The Brownian motion is modeled as a white noise process. The Stokes drag, the Brownian and the Saffman lift forces are included in the particle equation of motion. Several computer simulations for particle transport and deposition are performed. For particles in the size range of 0.01 to 35 μm, the corresponding deposition rates on various surfaces of the building model are evaluated.
