Abstract
The paper demonstrates links between the conventional aeroelastic and the buffeting force functions of a section of a long-span bridge deck. These links relate the flutter derivatives to the aerodynamic admittances and the latter to the associated indicial response functions. The effects of wind-gust coherence are included to yield net definitions of the six associated aerodynamic admittances. Some practical instances are cited. It is worthwhile emphasizing for the reader that the focus of this particular paper is uniquely on analytical models for the along-wind sectional aspects of the overall problem of bridge response to wind. Spanwise effects are mentioned at one point only.
