Abstract :
Combustion of powder mixes of two compositions (60.6Al+7.8Si+31.6Fe and 61.6Al+12.8Si+25.6Fe) reveal production of α′-(Al,Fe,Si) and γ-FeSiAl3 and, γ-FeSiAl3 and Fe3Al respectively. Thermal analysis shows a strong exothermic reaction close to 630 °C onset temperature for both the powder mixes.
