Abstract :
A method for predicting the hystcretic equilibrium temperature increase in rubber components using finite element analysis is described. It is based on two different analysis types: non-linear stress analysis and thermal analysis. An additional calculation is required between the two analyses for converting element elastic strain energies into hystcretic heat generation rates per unit volume. A scheme for the entire finite element analysis procedure and the material prerequisites are given, together with an experimental verification of the method.
