Abstract :
Phase equilibria in Tb–Pd–In and Ho–Pd–In systems at 750 °C were investigated in the region near the composition of 50 at.% Pd employing optical microscopy (LOM), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), electron probe microanalysis (EPMA) and X-ray diffraction (XRD). The phase equilibria of the systems exhibit strong similarities, showing, in addition to R2Pd2In-based solid solutions, large substitutional R/In solid solutions starting from the PdIn binary compound. Selected alloys of other R–Pd–In (R=Pr, …, Er) systems were also investigated. A comparison was made between these systems and Ce–Pd–In.
