Abstract :
Fe-based amorphous alloys containing rare earth elements have appeared to be a new type of ferromagnetic materials with unique magnetic properties. In this paper, the glass-forming ability, thermal stability and magnetic properties were investigated for Fe67−xCo7Zr6NdxB20 (x=0–5 at%) amorphous alloys. Among these alloys, the supercooled liquid region of Fe64Co7Zr6Nd3B20 amorphous alloy reached maximum value of 67 K. The saturation magnetization (Js) and coercive force (Hc) were in the range of 1.05–1.38 T and of 1.16–7.62 A/m, respectively. The Fe64Co7Zr6Nd3B20 bulk amorphous alloys in the shape of rod with diameter of 1 mm were obtained successfully by the means of copper mould injection casting, which exhibited good soft magnetic properties of 1.38 T for Js and 4.26 A/m for coercive force Hc.
