Abstract :
The jerky flow of long-range ordered 18R Cu–Zn–Al single crystals is studied on compressive deformation tests between 293 and 523 K. The results are analysed in terms of the Portevin–Le Chatelier effect, and the apparent activation energy for this and other LRO alloys is discussed in relation to a dislocation interaction and diffusion model.
