Simple connectivity of the Quillen complex of the symmetric group

In this paper, we investigate the homotopy type of the Quillen complex of the symmetric group ΔAp(Sn). More precisely, we show that the simplicial complex ΔAp(Sn) is simply connected if p is odd and either 3p+2⩽n<p2 or n⩾p2+p.
