Abstract
By using the Hirota’s bilinear transformation method and direct variable separation assumption, a new (2 + 1)-dimensional Sine–Gordon equation with self-consistent sources is derived for the first time. Correspondingly, a nonlinear variable separation solution included two lower-dimensional arbitrary functions is obtained.
