The Remainder Estimate in Spectral Accumulation for Degenerating Hyperbolic Surfaces

For a degenerating family of hyperbolic surfaces Sl (l ≥ 0), the spectrum of Sl, accumulates at every point of the continuous spectrum of S0. We give optimal remainder estimates for the rate of clustering of eigenvalues.
