Applied optimal shape design

This paper is a short survey of optimal shape design (OSD) for fluids. OSD is an interesting field both mathematically and for industrial applications. Existence, sensitivity, correct discretization are important theoretical issues. Practical implementation issues for airplane designs are critical too. per is also a summary of the material covered in our recent book, Applied Optimal Shape Design, Oxford University Press, 2001.
