Abstract :
From the mid-17th century through the 18th century, the Bernoullis were an influential voice in the conduct of mathematical science. Several, including Jacques [Jakob] and Daniel, made seminal contributions to statistics. Some of Danielʹs work is highlighted, and his contribution to the history of likelihood, as well as Leonhard Eulerʹs discussion of this work, is reexamined in the light of a little-known manuscript source.
