Spectral synthesis of Jordan-like operators

Necessary conditions and sufficient conditions are given for an operator acting on a separable Hilbert space whose root spaces are pairwise orthogonal and have dense linear span to admit spectral synthesis; that is, for each of its closed invariant subspaces to be the closed linear span of the root vectors it contains.
