CONTROL OF HYDROGEN SULFIDE EMISSIONS ASSOCIATED WITH WASTEWATER TREATMENT PLANTS

The odor associated with hydrogen sulfide is problematic for many wastewater treatment plants, In addition to causing a nuisance because of its odor, hydrogen sulfide can cause serious health effects. Many wastewater treatment plants will find it necessary to collect and treat hydrogen sulfide-contaminated air streams. The operation, advantages, and disadvantages of several systems used to treat hydrogen sulfide are discussed in this paper.
