Reflections on the implementation of the Programme of Action on the Sustainable Development of Small Island Developing States (SIDS)

The events which led to the convening of the United Nations Conference on the Sustainable Development of Small Island Developing States (SIDS) are examined, and provide the basis for an evaluation of the implementation of the SIDS Programme of Action. The Global Conference is considered within the broader framework of an evolving process which has and continues to contribute to enhancing the interests of SIDS in environment-development negotiations.
