CALCULATING SERVICE MOMENT CAPACITY OF ANCHOR BOLTED CONNECTIONS

The Uniform Building Code places limitations on allowable service loads of anchor bolts embedded in concrete. For most moment resistant anchor bolt connections, these service limits are developed at load levels far below the ultimate design strength of the connection. A method of calculating moment resistance in such connections based on a concrete beam/column analogy is presented here.
