Stochastic geometry modelling of hybrid optical networks

This paper presents a method based on stochastic geometry for the economic analysis of hybrid fixed/optical ring access networks. The cost evaluation of such networks depends on a complete spatial description of their infrastructure which is usually not suitable for macroscopic analysis. We avoid this problem by modelling optical ring networks and distribution subnetworks by spatial Poisson processes. This allows us to express costs of key components of the network via a minimal number of parameters.
