Abstract
The asymptotic approach to the reliability evaluation of multistate homogeneous parallel-series systems composed of components having Weibull reliability functions is applied to a ship-rope elevator system. Its approximate pessimistic and optimistic multistate reliability functions and risk functions are determined and plotted. Moreover, lower and upper bounds for its mean lifetimes in the state subsets and in particular states are calculated.
